When should you do your wedding seating chart?
3 min read
Timing makes seating painless or painful. Here’s the schedule that works.
8–10 weeks out: send invitations
Set your RSVP deadline for about three to four weeks before the wedding.
3–4 weeks out: build the layout
Recreate the venue floor plan and seat the anchors — the couple, wedding party, and immediate family. You don’t need every reply for this.
2 weeks out: finalize names
Once RSVPs are in, chase the stragglers and fill the remaining seats. This is the bulk of the work, and it’s quick if the layout already exists.
Final week: print and adjust
Print your chart and per-table lists. For any last-minute change, move one name in the planner and reprint. Related: the full step-by-step.
